Achieving Better and More for Less: collaboration to build civil society

On 3 November 2010

Cornerstone Global Associates continue to help clients across the public, private and non-profit sectors, both in the UK and internationally. The company's Capability Building Initiative, launched in June 2010, has particularly received considerable interest from a number of local and international organizations.

The initiative aims to strengthen civil society at a time of increased pressure on budgets and growing demand for services. Lucian Hudson (Partner and Managing Director), who leads the initiative, has been working with leading non-profit organizations in Britain. His proposition: "better and more can be achieved for less if organizations are more strategic in adopting collaborative and holistic approaches to problem solving, and actively explore options through early and consistent stakeholder engagement". His evidence is based on our experience of brokering and building alliances, and building brands which optimise resources between organizations.

He and his team bring a depth of experience working with non-profit organizations. As an active trustee of various charities in his own right, he has been instrumental in the launch of a collaborative learning network set up by the UK's National Council for Voluntary Organizations, ands working with a number of civil society organizations internationally.

Lucian recently led two key sessions, delivering addresses, for the National Council for Voluntary Organizations and Oxfam.

Esther Ridsdale of the NCVO commented: "thanks so much for your contribution to the launch of the NCVO collaborative learning network; both the talk and input to further discussions. It was obvious from the room that people found it really informative and I personally got a lot out of it."

Olga Ghazaryan, Regional Director for Oxfam (GB) said: "(The session) was thought provoking  and a very helpful contribution to our wider objectives, with the key messages tailored to our needs. The whole team enjoyed it greatly and was very stimulated - the buzz was going on after you left."
